Configuring JavaScript – Google Tag Manager Integration
Overview
The JavaScript – Google Tag Manager (GTM) integration allows administrators to connect events with Google Tag Manager by configuring a Container ID and selecting relevant event fields. This integration enables controlled data collection, activation management, and team-based access, ensuring that tracking logic is applied only where required.
Step-by-Step Approach
1. Create a New JavaScript – Google Tag Manager Integration
- On the General Dashboard, go to Integrations.
- Click + Integration.
- Select the integration type as JavaScript and the subtype as Google Tag Manager.
- Enter a name for the integration to clearly identify its purpose.
- Click Save to continue.
2. Enter or Edit the Container ID
- In the integration form, locate the Container ID field.

Enter or update the Container ID in the required format (for example,
GTM-XXXXXXX). - Ensure the Container ID is valid and corresponds to the correct Google Tag Manager container.
- Save the changes.
3. Select Applicable Event Fields
- In the Event Fields section, open the Select Field dropdown.
- Choose the event fields that should be passed to Google Tag Manager.
- The selected fields appear in the list below the dropdown.
- Save the integration to apply the selected fields.
4. Remove Selected Event Fields
- Locate the fields listed under the Selected Event Fields section.
- Click the Trash icon next to the field you want to delete.
- The field is immediately removed from the integration.
- Save the changes to confirm.
5. Activate or Deactivate the Google Tag Manager Integration

After saving the integration, use the Status toggle
to control availability:
- Activated: The Google Tag Manager JavaScript is enabled and sends data.
- Deactivated: The integration remains saved but does not execute.
- Changes take effect immediately after toggling.
6. Remove the Google Tag Manager Integration
- From the Integrations listing, locate the Google Tag Manager integration you want to delete.
- Click Delete.

Confirm the deletion when prompted:
- This action permanently removes the integration and its configuration.
7. Access the Teams Listing
- Open the Google Tag Manager integration you want to manage.
- Navigate to the Teams tab within the integration.
8. Select Teams from the “Select Teams” Pop-up
- In the Select Teams pop-up, browse or search for the required teams.
- Select one or more teams to associate with the integration.
- Click Select to include the chosen teams.
- The selected teams appear in the Teams listing.
9. Remove Teams from the Listing
- In the Teams listing, locate the team you want to remove.
- Click the More Options (⋮) icon next to the team name.
- Select Remove teams.
