Finalizing Your Badge: Preview and Publish Guide
Overview
This article explains how to finalize your badge design using the Preview and Publish buttons within the Badge Editor. You can validate your badge layout with participant data, check font compatibility, and ensure all visual elements display correctly before publishing the final version.
Step-by-Step Approach
1. Preview the Badge Design
- Click the Preview button in the Badge Editor toolbar.
- The badge preview window displays the current badge layout as it will appear in print format.
2. Publish the Final Badge Design
- Once the design is verified, click the Publish button to make your badge design live.
- The published version becomes the active template used for badge printing and participant check-in.
3. Revert to the Last Published Version
- If you want to discard recent unsaved changes, click the Revert to Published button.
- This restores the last published badge version, ensuring design integrity and rollback safety.
4. Preview Badges with Participant Values
- Preview badges only for participants who are either registered or arrived.
- Use the Preview button to validate how dynamic fields and components (for example: Name, Company, Title, images, QR Code) render on the badge.
- Verify that text, images, and components fit properly and remain readable at actual print size.
5. Preview Badges with Participant Activity Values
- Add the Activity field on the badge to display participant activity-related information in your badge Preview. For instructions on adding the Activity field, please refer to this article.
- This allows you to verify that event sessions, workshops, and grouped activities are displayed correctly within the design layout.
6. Use longest Value first
- When previewing participant data, enable the Use longest value first setting.
- Select the applicable fields where setting should reflect.
- When the option is enabled, the system analyzes the selected fields and uses the longest value available when rendering the badge layout preview.
- The system uses the longest possible values during the preview and layout calculation to prevent text overflow or misalignment when badges are generated for participants.
- This helps to ensure the badge layout is optimized for the longest possible values and participant data with longest values will appear first on the preview.
7. Toggle on Flip backside 180.
- When ON , the contents on the badge change orientation by 180.
- When OFF , the contents on the badge remain in same orientation.
7. Validate Font and Special Character Support
- During preview, confirm that the selected font supports special characters (for example: accents, symbols, or non-Latin scripts).
- If unsupported characters appear distorted or missing, select a font that provides full character set coverage.
8. Confirm Published Changes
- After publishing, reopen the Badge Editor to confirm that your updates are reflected in the design view.
- Ensure all visual elements, text, and data-bindings match the intended final layout.
Tips
- Always preview badges with sample participant data before publishing to avoid layout or data overflow issues.
- Keep backups of major design versions before applying final changes.
- Use Revert to Published if you need to roll back to the last stable version.
- Validate font consistency across different badge printers to ensure accurate reproduction.
