Validating Auto-Generated Participant Fields in the Event Field Manager
Overview
When using the Multi-Registration Workflow, certain participant fields are automatically generated based on your workflow configuration. These fields become available in the Event Field Manager once the workflow is published.
As a user, you can view these auto-generated fields and apply validation rules to ensure accurate and consistent data collection in the participant detail view.
Step-by-Step Approach
1. Publish the Multi-Registration Workflow
- Navigate to the Workflow Editor.
- Configure your Multi-Registration setup (e.g., participant forms, limits, stages).
- Click Publish to activate the workflow.
Once published, the system automatically creates participant fields based on your configuration.
2. Access the Event Field Manager
- On the Event dashboard, navigate to Field Manager.
- Click on the Participant Fields tab.
You will now see the following auto-generated fields linked to the Multi-Registration Workflow.
- Assigned Ticket ID
- Assigned Ticket Name
- Main Participant ID
- Main Participant Email
- Is sub participant
- Assigned Add On's ID
- Assigned Add Ons Name
- Is sub participant
3. Locate Auto-Generated Participant Fields
- Identify fields created by the system (these are typically tied to your workflow structure).
- These fields are available alongside manually created fields.
4. Apply Validation Rules
- Click on the desired auto-generated participant field.
-
Configure validation settings such as:
- Required field (mandatory input)
- Field format validation (e.g., email, number, text limits)
- Character limits or constraints (if applicable)
- Save your changes.
5. Validate Fields in Participant Detail View
- On the Event dashboard, navigate to the Participant listing.
- Click on any participant to open the detail view.
-
Interact with the validated fields:
- Ensure required fields should be autofilled by the system on registration.
- Verify format restrictions are enforced
- Confirm that validation rules behave as expected.
Result
- Auto-generated participant fields are visible in the Field Manager after publishing the workflow.
- Validation rules can be successfully applied to these fields.
- The configured validations are enforced in the participant detail view, ensuring clean and consistent data entry.
Notes
- Auto-generated fields are system-driven and may have limited editability compared to custom fields.
- It is recommended to review validation rules immediately after publishing the workflow.
- Any updates to the workflow may introduce new fields, which should also be validated if required.
