Validating Multi-Registration Widget for Ticket Type as a Participant
Overview
The Multi-Registration Widget (Ticket Type) allows participants to register themselves and multiple sub-participants while purchasing tickets and additional products in a single flow. Each ticket represents one entry to the event and can be assigned either to the main participant or to sub-participants.
When a maximum number of participants is set in the workflow, the main participant is allowed to bring additional participants up to that limit. The widget guides the main participant through selecting how many people they want to bring, assigning tickets, and managing sub-participant details. Participants can also manage non-ticket products, edit participant details, and control ticket assignment. The widget ensures proper ticket allocation, dependency validation for additional products, and real-time visibility of participant status throughout the registration lifecycle.
Step-by-Step Approach
1. Access Multi-Registration Widget
- Open the event website using the link provided by the event organizer.
- Navigate to the webpage where the Multi-Registration Widget (Ticket Type) is displayed.
- The widget displays options to add main and sub-participants and supports both ticket and non-ticket products.
2. Select Number of Participants
- Upon opening the widget, select how many participants including yourself you want to bring.
- The selection will display available options based on the maximum set in the workflow. For example if the maximum is 3, the options will be 1, 2, or 3.
- The "Assign Ticket to Yourself" checkbox will be pre-selected by default as the main participant is always required to attend.
3. Purchase Products (Ticket & Non-Ticket)
- Select one or more products available in the registration form.
-
Products can include:
- Ticket products (event access)
- Non-ticket products (custom items, sessions, donations)
- Each ticket product represents one event access. Non-ticket products do not grant event access independently.
4. Assign Tickets
-
Use the "Assign Ticket to Yourself" checkbox which is pre-selected by default for the main participant:
- Check → Ticket is assigned to the main participant.
- Uncheck → Ticket can be assigned to a sub-participant.
- Assign tickets to sub-participants using the Ticket selection field.
- Each ticket must be assigned to only one participant.
- Unassigned tickets are sent via email as separate QR codes and each QR code acts as an individual event entry pass.
5. Add Sub-Participants
- Click on Add Sub-Participant.
-
Enter required details:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Select a ticket from the ticket dropdown.
- Click Submit.
- Each sub-participant can be assigned one and only one ticket.
- Sub-participants appear in the Multi-Registration listing after submission.
- The system will display a message indicating how many more people still need to be added. For example if two more people are required it will show "Two more people need to be added" and if only one more person is required it will show "One more person needs to be added."
6. Assign Additional Products to Sub-Participants
- While adding or editing a sub-participant, select additional products.
- Only non-ticket products can be assigned additionally.
-
Product selection follows dependency rules:
- Some products may not be visible if dependencies are not satisfied.
7. View and Manage Sub-Participants
- View all added sub-participants in the Multi-Registration listing.
-
Use available actions:
- Edit → Modify participant details
- Cancel → Discard changes
- The listing shows all participants with their assigned tickets and products.
8. Edit Participant Details
-
Click on Edit for:
- Main participant
- Sub-participant
-
Update details such as:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Ticket / Product selection
- Click Save or Submit.
- Edits can be made before final submission or based on configuration after submission.
9. Update or Remove Sub-Participants
- Edit an existing sub-participant to update details.
- Remove sub-participants if required.
- Cancel sub-participant registration using the Cancel option.
- Removing or cancelling may trigger system validations.
10. Cancel Registration
- Click on Cancel link for the main participant.
- A refund pop-up may appear (if applicable).
- Confirm cancellation to proceed.
11. Track Participant Status
- View participant status directly in the widget.
-
Statuses Include:
- Assigned
- Registered
- Cancelled
- Arrived
- Status updates reflect the participant's current stage in the event lifecycle.
